Our friends, Erika Steger and Aaron Stoppe were getting married in Chino Valley, Arizona. We were both honored to be in their wedding party, so we decided to roadtrip it out to Arizona. We started at 4:30am on Thursday morning and arrived TX time at the Stoppe's home at 3:30am - which was only 1:30am their time. 23 hour trip! "Luckily" we weren't the only ones coming in late. Aaron and Erika had went to pick up the maid of honor at the phoenix airport and were stuck in traffic. They arrived a few minutes after us. Then later, their Uncle's family arrived from California. He was the one performing the ceremony - and he did a great job!
So on our way, we stopped in Laguna, New Mexico for gas and restrooms. We saw this sign as we drove out of the parking lot. Seriously, New Mexico is like you are living in part of a John Wayne movie. Most people were of Indian descent. We don't have anything against the Indians, but it just felt like a completely different world. Which it is...We were impressed by Arizona's beauty - lots of mountains, lots of weather - huge clouds, lightning storms, heavy showers, pretty sunsets, strong winds...It rained while we were there, which is unusual for May. But for us, it kept the weather cooler and more pleasant for the wedding.
Isn't Arizona amazing? We lived there 3 1/2 years and enjoyed exploring it. Living in the Phoenix area wasn't great but everywhere else is interesting.
